Guided Riding » Coast to Coast Endurance Trip
Our route is an epic - based on Tim Woodcock's famous book it covers 210 miles and over 8500m of ascent in three of the UK's most stunning backcountry terrains: The Lakes; Yorkshire Dales; and the North York Moors. Highlights include: Black Sail Pass; Walna Scar; Garburn Pass; Swaledale; Fryupdale; and Cut Road.
From the 14th to 18th June 2010 we are giving a small number of endurance focused trail riders the opportunity to join us and ride with Rich Rothwell on a testing three day crossing of the hardcore English Coast to Coast ride. Three consecutive day long rides in England's finest terrain... three big days on stunning trails... Three days riding with a MTB endurance champion... What could be better?
Participants riding ability
This is some of the toughest (and best!) riding anywhere and the tour will be a challenge even for the strongest riders. It would make an ideal training block for dedicated distance riders who may be taking part in one of the summer endurance events, and strong enthusiasts alike.
Each day you will be covering between 100km - 130 km and riding for an average of around 10 hours a day. You will be riding for three days solidly and must be confident that you can sustain this. We are happy to discuss whether you feel you would be able to complete this holiday. If you struggle to maintain
the pace, to ensure the flow of the trip, you will be picked up by the support vehicle as the distances involved require precise timings.
Group size
Group size will be a maximum of six riders. This allows us to minimise our impact on the trails and also keep the team moving at a good speed. This is not a trip for the faint hearted!

Did we mention he rode the Coast to Coast non-stop in 28hrs 32min in April 2009.
You're in good hands here!
Guides
You'll be riding with the men for the job: Stuart Price; and Rich Rothwell. Stuart Price (Dales Mountain Biking) has led countless rides of the route and you'll find few guides with his extensive knowledge of the northern hills and ability on a bike. Rich Rothwell (Team Ironhorse extreme, 24hr Solo Masters World Champion and member of The Seven Deadly Spins crew (www.the7ds.com) specialises in big wilderness days and, in May 2009, he was the first known rider to have completed the Woodcock's Coast to Coast in one hit and unsupported. He also recently won his age category at the 2009 24hr World Solo Championships in Canada and will be more than happy to share his knowledge and passion for big endurance rides.
Stu and Rich will ensure you get the most positive experience during your Coast-to-Coast experience leaving you with memories of a trip that you will talk about for years to come.
Accommodation, food and support
The tour is all-inclusive and, if required, includes pick up from local train stations or airports. The package includes all meals and four nights accommodation: three at The Dales Bike Centre, and one on the eastern fringes of the Lake District.
Our overnight support vehicle will carry your kit and spares from point to point. This leaves you to travel light and only carry clothes and spares for the day; essential on a trip as hard as this. Our support vehicle will be on hand if assistance is required and a mobile workshop and bike surgery will be available at the end of each day's riding. However, we do expect your bike to be in perfect working order before the ride. As mentioned, because of the challenging nature of the trip, anyone unable to maintain the pace required will be picked up by the support vehicle.
