UK Mountain Bike Holidays » Coast to Coast Enduro
We have turned our 7 day classic tour into a 5 ½day enduro ride for those of you who want a real challenge. Our route crosses England's great watershed and moves through constantly changing scenery often wild, but always inspiring. The Dales Mountain Biking guided trip features 5 ½days of superb riding from St Bees in the West to Robin Hoods Bay in the East. The trip covers 350km and over 8500m of ascent and descent and is the ultimate coast-to-coast ride in the UK.
The trails are as varied as the spectacular scenery of the Lakeland Mountains, moorlands of the Pennine Ridge, the limestone of the Dales, and the wide open, heather clad landscape of the North Yorkshire Moors. The trails range from flowing singletrack, rocky and challenging mountain passes, mellow country roads, and grass covered Roman Roads. Beginning in St Bees with your wheel in the Irish Sea, you travel straight into the Lakeland Mountains with 5½ superb days of riding to follow until you dip your wheel into the North Sea. This is a truly superb multi-day mountain bike ride offering world-class riding through some of the most spectacular scenery in Great Britain.
Participants Riding Ability
The Coast to Coast is the UK's most challenging mountain bike tour requiring an excellent level of fitness, stamina and technical ability. Each day you will be covering between 50km - 65km and be riding from 9:30am till 6:30 with stops obviously. This will include a wide range of terrains including technical rocky descents and climbs, a couple of bike portages, grass and heather moorland sigletrack and country roads. You will be riding for 5½ days and must be confident that you can sustain this. We are very happy to discuss whether you feel you would be able to complete Coast to Coast tour.
Group Size
Our group size for this trip is 6 riders. This allows us to limit our impact on the trails. You will be able to share your experience with new riding partners who will range in their age and abilities.
Guides and Support during the Tour
Our guides live and ride in the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales and are all qualified mountain bike guides with years of experience working in the outdoors. They are there so that you get the most positive experience during your Coast-to-Coast tour leaving you with memories of a trip that you will talk about for years to come.
Support
Our support vehicle will carry your overnight kit and bike spares from point to point. This leaves you to travel light and only carry kit and bars for the day. The support vehicle will be around an about throughout your journey, on hand if assistance is required.
We do expect your bike to be in excellent working order before you begin the tour. Please call us if you have any questions about your bike. A mobile workshop is there to assist with any adjustments or surgery your bike may require at the end of the day's riding.
Accommodation and Food
Overnight accommodation is at Dales Bike Centre, Ennerdale Youth hostel, and carefully chosen pubs and B&B's. We have ensured that all our accommodation have secure bike storage, bike washing facilities and welcome us after a long day on the bike. We have a passion for great food and as a result we will eat in local restaurants, hotels or pubs that served locally sourced produce. Throughout the trip including your arrival and departure evening staff and guides from Dales Bike Centre will eat with you at the evening meal.
Logistics:
Arrive at Dales Bike Centre Monday morning, park your vehicle and leave it there till you return Saturday afternoon. Your group will leave Dales Bike Centre around lunchtime heading to St Bees to dip your wheels in the sea signifying the start. At the end you'll dip your wheels in the sea at Robin Hoods Bay and return to Dales Bike Centre Saturday afternoon. After a clean up, tea coffee and cake it's time for you to head home, an optional extra night is available if required.
