Jumps and Drops 1 Riding Skills Day

'Jumps and Drops 1' riding skills course will help you develop your riding skills on all manner of steps, drops and jumps.  Knowledge - Technique - Confidence - Practice are going to stop you hesitating and struggling on rides in Trail Centres and on Natural Trails.  

You may have heard terms like 'pumping, power lift, manual, roll, wheelie'. We are going to help you understand these terms and use these techniques to develop your skills enabling you to ride ramps, steps, steep drops, jumps and more.  This course has been very carefully structured to start with some basics like lifting the front wheel, from there you'll progress quickly.

Course content:

  • Bike set-up

  • Body position/weight distribution

  • Drop offs

  • Manual/front wheel lift

  • Power assisted front wheel lifts

  • Rear wheel lift

Typical Course

Friday:

Optional Friday Mountain Bike Maintenance course

Morning:

Bike set up and safety checks. Front wheel lifts, Body position and Weight shifts, rear wheel lifts, small steps and drops.

Afternoon:

Developing techniques on our very own ramps, drops and steps no more than 3km from Dales Bike Centre.  Informal group evaluation, tea/coffee and homemade cake at Dales Bike Centre.

Speed & Flow
Jumps and Drops 1 & 2

To enable you to get the most from your Mountain Bike Riding Skills Course we limit course size to a maximum of 6 participants.
